Do’s
- Invest in employer brand and put across a good one.
- Communicate key responsibilities and challenges of the role clearly.
- Highlight growth opportunities within the organisation.
- Engage with recruitment partner in case you are looking for value added hiring our niche skill hiring.
- Have complete transparency on the compensation structure and communicate the same clearly.
- Get to know the attitude of the candidate and look beyond skills mentioned in the CV like ethics etc.
- Try to explain company core values and pillars to the incumbent.
- Look for a far-sighted candidate who has vision for himself and the company. This helps in mutual growth.
- Experience matters.
- Get to know the candidate. A casual interaction may help you understand how they think.
- Values like honesty, teamwork, culture they belong to should play a role in the final decision-making process.
- Try to be brutally honest about company’s culture, salary, job etc. whether it be dark or ugly because this helps in absorbing a stable candidate who would love to work for a good tenure with the company thus cutting attrition costs.
Don’ts
- Do not misrepresent the nature of the job.
- Do not waste time looking for a hundred percent match. The right candidate is a mix of good aptitude (skills) and a good attitude.
- Do not avoid interviewing passive candidates.
- Do not reach a final decision while half-way through the interview.
- Do not camouflage anything related to the company, culture, salary or job role.
